法王如意宝：只要具足这两点，就一定不会堕入恶趣！

人生最可靠的是信心和正见

ConfidenceandRightViewAretheMostDependableThingsinLife

凡夫人在修行过程中，

WhenworldlypeoplepracticeBuddhism,

倘若各方面享受过于优越，

ifthereisexcessivecomfortinallareasoftheirlife,

则不易生起出离心;

renunciationwillnotbeeasy.

如果太苦了，无食果腹、无衣蔽体，

Butifconditionsaretooharshandtheylacksufficientfoodorclothing,

又会身不安，

thebodywillexperienceunease.

身不安则道不隆。

Whenthebodyisnotatease,thepracticewillnotbefruitful.

所以，大乘经论中讲：不堕两边，

Thus,theMahayanasutrasandshastrassaytoavoidfallingintothetwoextremes.

应行中道。

Oneshouldpracticethemiddleway.

作为一个人，对自己的前途务必要好好思索。

Everyindividualmustearnestlyponderthepathahead.

为了使现在、将来圆满幸福，

Forthepresentandthefuturetobeperfectandhappy,

每个人均应抓紧时间做有益于自己的事情。

wemustmakehasteanddothingsthatwillbenefitus.

当然，在我看来，

Ofcourse,asIseeit,

对众生今生来世最有帮助的，莫过于殊胜的佛法。

whatisofthemosthelptolivingbeings’presentandfuturelivesisnoneotherthanthesublimeBuddhadharma.

而在佛法中，有两个要点必不可少：

TherearetwokeypointsthatarecrucialinBuddhadharma.

第一、清净的见解，尤其是相信因果的正见。

Thefirstispureview,especiallytherightviewofbeliefincauseandeffect.

如果没有它，就得不到善趣的安乐。

Withoutit,onewillnotattainthepeaceandhappinessofthehigherrealms.

第二、无垢的信心，

Thesecondisuntaintedconfidence

即对三宝有永不退转的信心，

—thatis,unfailingconfidenceintheThreeJewels.

这是今生和来世一切圆满的根本。

Thisisthefoundationofallperfectattainmentinthislifeandinfuturelives.

那么，对三宝的信心和因果不虚的正见，对每个人有多重要呢?

HowimportantthenareconfidenceintheThreeJewelsandtherightviewofthetruthofcauseandeffect?

佛陀告诉我们，若具足了这二者，就一定不会堕入恶趣，

TheBuddhatoldusthatwhenwepossessthesetwo,weareassuredofneverfallingtothelowerrealms.

并且所希求的一切功德皆可依此而成就。

Wecanalsoattainallthevirtueandmeritweseekthroughthesetwo.

因此，信心和正见是我们最究竟的朋友，

Thus,confidenceandrightviewareourultimatefriends.

除此以外，像财产、地位、名声等，并不是永久可靠的依赖，

Thingslikewealth,position,andfamecannotbedependeduponforever.

因为当自己奔赴中阴时，这些一点都带不走。

Noneofthesecanbebroughtalongwithusinthebardo.

我们的生命，犹如黎明时的星星般眨眼即逝。

Ourlivesarelikethestarsatdawn,disappearingintheblinkofaneye.

作为一个老人，我比较容易有这种感悟，

AsIamanoldman,itiseasierformetohavethisinsight.

而年轻人，也别以为未来还很长，

Butthoseofyouwhoareyoungshouldnotthinkthatthefutureisstilllong.

不要盲目地有这种自信。

Donothavethiskindofblindself-confidence.

今后应该有什么打算，每个人都需要想一想。

Everyoneneedstocontemplatewhatplansheorshehasforthefuture.
